The IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining an organization’s IT infrastructure to support business objectives and ensure operational efficiency. This role involves managing physical and virtual systems, ensuring data security, leading infrastructure projects, and collaborating with teams to align technology strategies with organizational goals.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, with at least 4 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.

Technical Expertise

• Proficiency in designing and managing:

• Network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, firewalls, and switches).

• Server environments (Windows, Linux, Unix) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).

• Cloud platforms such as AWS

• Storage solutions (SAN, NAS, backup technologies).

• IT monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Splunk).

• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection.

• Hands-on experience with ITSM frameworks and tools (e.g., ITIL, Jira).

Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory)

• ITIL (Foundation/Advanced).

• Cisco (CCNA, CCNP).

• Microsoft (MCSA, MCSE).

• Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator).

Soft Skills

Work Conditions

Scope & Responsibilities:

1. Infrastructure Planning and Management

• Design and oversee the architecture of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and virtualization platforms.

• Develop strategies for maintaining and scaling infrastructure to meet business demands.

• Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of IT systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance.

• Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards for the infrastructure environment.

2. Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, network engineers, and support staff.

• Provide technical guidance and foster skill development among team members.

• Assign roles and responsibilities, monitor team performance, and provide regular feedback.

3. Security and Compliance

• Implement robust security measures to protect IT systems from cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

• Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

• Manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including backup strategies and failover mechanisms.

• Monitor and respond to security breaches or incidents effectively.

4. Project Management

• Lead IT infrastructure projects such as migrations, upgrades, deployments, and system integrations.

• Define project scope, goals, timelines, and deliverables in alignment with business objectives.

• Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and other departments to ensure seamless execution.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of all projects and related processes.

5. Vendor and Budget Management

• Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers.

• Negotiate contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and pricing for IT infrastructure solutions.

• Prepare, monitor, and manage the IT infrastructure budget to optimize costs and resource allocation.

6. Incident and Problem Management

• Oversee resolution of IT infrastructure incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

• Analyze root causes of recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.

• Establish protocols for escalation and timely resolution of critical incidents.

7. Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in IT infrastructure.

• Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

• Develop strategies to modernize legacy systems and adopt cutting-edge infrastructure solutions.

8. Reporting and Communication

• Prepare detailed reports on system performance, uptime, and incidents for senior management.

• Communicate IT infrastructure strategies, progress, and risks to stakeholders in clear, non-technical terms.

• Provide recommendations for technology investments aligned with business goals.
